How to Access these Databases Off-Campus

ATLA/S, R&TA, JSTOR, Encyclopedia of Islam: When you are not on campus, you will need to login to use these databases.  Your Username and Password are the same as your Self-Service login.  Do not try to login directly at a specific database site with your Self-Service login.  You may use the below login or links on this page for the ATLA/S and related databases.  When using your Self-Service username and password, if the screen is not the same as the image to the right you are entering your information on the wrong page.

Psychology & Behavioral Science Collection: For Jackson students in the Marriage and Family Therapy program, remote access is availabe for this database on a separate account and login.  To receive the remote access information, send a request from the e-mail address associated with your library account including your name and student id to library.jackson@rts.edu

Note to Hinds County Residents

If you register at a Jackson/Hinds Public Library for a library card, you may then have access to the MAGNOLIA project databases and resources.  MAGNOLIA is a statewide consortium funded by the Mississippi Legislature which provides online research databases for publicly funded K-12 schools, public libraries, community college libraries, and university libraries in Mississippi.  Databases available include Academic Search Premier and MasterFILE Premier.

 

Database Descriptions

ATLA/S Religion Database (Index & Full-Text)
The ATLA Religion Database Index is an essential tool for the study of religion. It is the premier index to journal articles, book reviews, and collections of essays in all fields of religion. The more than 1,315,000 records in the ATLA Religion Database include journal articles, essays from multi-author works, and book reviews. Over 1,500 journal titles are currently indexed.

ATLAS is a full-text online collection of major religion and theology journals selected by leading religion scholars and theologians. Users can read articles or research the history of a topic from 1949 to the present. Currently, researchers are able to use ATLA Serials as a search tool to retrieve images of the pages in more than fifty different journals, which includes more than 100,000 entries (including articles and book reviews).

EBSCO E-Book Collection
This database provides access to a growing collection of e-books available to use online or download to your computer or mobile device.  Subjects include counseling, Islam, and theological and biblical studies.

Religion & Philosophy Collection
This database is a comprehensive database covering topics such as world religions, major denominations, biblical studies, religious history, epistemology, political philosophy, philosophy of language, moral philosophy and the history of philosophy. With more than 300 full text journals and unparalleled coverage of the subject areas listed above, the Religion & Philosophy Collection™ is an essential tool for researchers and students of theology and philosophical studies.

Old Testament Abstracts & New Testament Abstracts
Old Testament Abstracts Online is a product of a partnership between ATLA and the Catholic Biblical Association. The database features indexing and abstracts for journal articles, monographs, multi-author works, and software related to Old Testament studies. Topics covered include antiquities, archaeology, biblical theology, philology and much more.

New Testament Abstracts is a product of a partnership between ATLA and the Weston Jesuit School of Theology. The database contains more than 33,000 article abstracts, 1,200 review abstracts, 12,600 book abstracts, and 50 software abstracts. Article coverage in the database dates back to 1985.

Catholic Periodical Index
The database covers all aspects of the Catholic faith and lifestyle, and includes over 436,000 index citations of articles and reviews published in Roman Catholic periodicals, Papal documents, church promulgations, and books about the Catholic faith that are authored by Catholics and/or produced by Catholic publishers.

JSTOR
The JSTOR Archives Collections are multi-disciplinary and discipline-specific collections that include complete runs of full-text journals. These collections span across more than 50 disciplines of academic content. The Arts & Sciences collections include religion & theology.

Encyclopaedia of Islam (Brill)
The Encyclopaedia of Islam (Second Edition) Online sets out the present state of our knowledge of the Islamic World. It is a unique and invaluable reference tool, an essential key to understanding the world of Islam, and the authoritative source not only for the religion, but also for the believers and the countries in which they live. New content will be added on a quarterly basis, and includes new material from the 3rd edition.

Digital Karl Barth Library
The current release features Barth's magnum opus, Die kirchliche Dogmatik, in its entirety. Also featured are the first 36 volumes of Barth's Gesamtausgabe, which includes hundreds of letters, sermons, lectures, conversations, and academic writings. These volumes are supplemented by seven additional German works that have not yet been published as part of the Gesamtausgabe and English translations of twelve important texts by Barth. New content will be added on a quarterly basis.

Religious & Theological Abstracts
R&TA provides objective summaries of articles appearing in scholarly journals in the fields of Religion and Theology since 1958. Listed are a wide variety of periodical literature, including Christian, Jewish, and other world religions, and provide English language abstracts of articles in English, Hebrew, Afrikaans, and major European languages.
